Cargo Train

December 2005

A small cargo train, built using the standard 6-wide LEGO train plates.

The right picture is the only reference I had for building. My version's not identical (it was my first try of recreating a real train) but I think the similarities are apparent ;-) I don't have information on what train it really is, but the page I found it on says it was seen in Sung-Shan Station.

A side view reveals more details. I also built some container wagons to make a longer train.

San Diego Trolley

This is my recreation of the San Diego Trolley. It was my first time building 8-wide LEGO trains. Because of the way the wheels are covered by the black railings, this trolley can't be used on LEGO tracks because it wouldn't be able to turn. But I think it looks great as a decorative model though.
The two shots that helped me in building can be found here and here. Note that this is the new "Green Line" trolley, most pictures on the net show older versions.

A comparison shot. I recreated the main decals to add some realism. The pictures don't really show it, but the color of my homemade stickers actually match the "LEGO red" pretty well. The camera's flash makes the LEGO bricks look more orange on these pictures than they really are.

Two more shots.
I used a fair amount of SNOT on the front panels and the middle part of the trolleys.
All windows and doors are simply black bricks. It would have been impossible to integrate working doors at this scale, and I didn't have that many windows anyway...
